Stop overselling with real-time POS stock visibility

See on-hand and forecasted quantity on every product tile, switch warehouses without leaving the till, and block out-of-stock sales before they happen.

The problem

The standard Point of Sale screen has no visibility into inventory. Cashiers sell products that are physically out of stock, especially across multi-warehouse retailers, leading to refunds, awkward conversations at the till, and manual reconciliation after the fact.

The solution

Every product tile shows a color-coded on-hand and forecasted quantity badge, pulled live from the warehouse configured for that POS session. Staff can switch warehouses from a control button on the sales screen itself, and out-of-stock items are blocked at the line with a manager override, so every sale reflects stock that is actually there.

Capabilities

Stock visibility, built into the till

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

On-hand and forecasted quantity

Each product tile carries a badge showing on-hand and forecasted quantity, each toggleable independently, so staff never confuse a physical count with a projected one.

02

Color-coded stock status

Badges are colored red for out-of-stock, amber for low stock, green for healthy stock, and blue for surplus, so status is readable at a glance without reading the number.

03

In-POS warehouse switcher

A control button on the sales screen opens a warehouse selection popup, letting staff check a different location's stock without leaving the checkout flow or asking a manager.

04

Primary and additional warehouses

Configure one primary warehouse plus any number of additional warehouses per POS, so multi-location retailers can check stock at the location that matters for that sale.

05

Block selling out-of-stock products

Turn on a hard stop for products at zero or negative stock, with a manager override available at the register when a sale genuinely needs to proceed.

06

Custom out-of-stock message

Write your own message for the out-of-stock block dialog, so staff see guidance in your own words instead of a generic system error.

07

Configurable low-stock and surplus thresholds

Set your own quantity thresholds for what counts as low stock and what counts as surplus, so the color cues match your own business policy rather than a fixed default.

08

Surplus-stock upsell cue

Healthy surplus stock is flagged with its own badge color, turning a purely defensive stock check into a prompt for staff to suggest a larger purchase.

09

Per-POS settings toggle

Enable or disable the whole feature per POS configuration from the standard Settings screen, so other point-of-sale profiles are unaffected.

Workflow

How it works

1

Enable in Settings

Turn on Stock Information for a POS configuration and pick the primary and any additional warehouses.

2

Set thresholds and policy

Choose low-stock and surplus thresholds, whether to block out-of-stock sales, and your custom out-of-stock message.

3

Open the till

Every product tile now shows a color-coded stock badge pulled live from the configured warehouse.

4

Sell with confidence

Switch warehouses from the sales screen when needed, and let the out-of-stock block catch what staff might miss.
