The problem
Standard Odoo POS deducts stock from a single, session-wide location. A cashier ringing up a multi-zone store — front-of-shop shelves, a back room, a mezzanine — has no way to tell the system which physical spot a line should be picked from. Pickers walk to the wrong zone, stock counts drift, and zone-based batch picking becomes guesswork.
The solution
Assign a source location to every order line, right at checkout. Favorites and batch assignment cut clicks for high-volume orders, a searchable picker shows live on-hand stock per location, unassigned lines fall back to a clearly-marked auto default, and payment generates one picking per distinct location so warehouse staff can pick by zone.

Per-line location selection
Assign a stock location to each individual order line right from the product screen, the core capability standard POS lacks.
Location shown on the line
Each order line displays its assigned location under the product name, with a muted "Auto" badge whenever the default was applied.
Location-wise picking
Payment automatically generates one picking document per distinct source location, so warehouse staff can batch-pick by zone.
Location in order history
The backend order form shows a Source Location column with an auto-flag on every line, for after-the-fact fulfillment tracking.
Configurable default location
Set a default source location per POS so any line the cashier leaves unassigned is still sourced correctly, never left blank.
Favorites & quick-select presets
Curate a favorites list so cashiers assign the most-used locations in a single tap, instead of scrolling a flat list.
Batch assignment & summary
Apply one location to the whole order in a single action, then review every line's assignment in a pre-checkout summary panel.
Searchable picker with live stock
Search by name or barcode to navigate deep location hierarchies, with per-location on-hand quantity shown right on each row.
Low / out-of-stock warnings
A clear warning flags a low or empty location at the moment of assignment — warn-and-allow, so the cashier stays in control.
How it works
Configure once
In Settings, enable Product Location, set a default location, curate the selectable list and pick favorites.
Ring up the sale
Add products as usual; storable lines get the default location and an Auto badge unless the cashier picks one deliberately.
Assign & review
Set Location or Order Locations opens the picker or the batch summary, so every line is confirmed before payment.
Pick by zone
Payment generates one picking per distinct location, ready for warehouse staff to batch-pick zone by zone.
