Lock a table to the waiter who opens it, with configurable immediate or first-item auto-lock, automatic release on payment, and an inactivity timeout so no table stays stuck.
Visible lock ownership on every tile
A red ribbon on the floor plan names the locking waiter and shows the table state at a glance — available, occupied, in payment, or locked — synchronized across every connected terminal.
Tiered waiter roles
Waiter, Senior Waiter, and Manager tiers on the employee record drive exactly what each person can do in the POS, replacing the all-or-nothing access most restaurants run today.
Restricted waiter actions
Waiters cannot delete already-sent order lines or open payment on a table — those controls are visibly greyed out, not merely hidden, and unlock again for Senior Waiter and Manager.
Simplified waiter screen
A table-nav and item-selection layout for the Waiter role that hides unit price, discount, and cash-control buttons entirely, cutting accidental and intentional price changes.

A manager can force-release or reassign a locked table on the spot, and an inactivity-timeout cron auto-releases stale locks so a table never stays stuck when a waiter forgets.

A bold waiter badge prints on kitchen change tickets and customer receipts alongside the cashier and table number, with full multi-line variant rendering — no 2-3 line truncation.
Time-at-table & service alerts
A live dwell timer on every locked table turns to an alert once a configurable service threshold is passed, so managers can step in before a slow table becomes a complaint.

Assign waiter roles
