Log in and go directly to your till

Send cashiers and waitstaff straight to their assigned Point of Sale terminal the moment they log in — with live terminal status, multi-terminal fallback, and a full audit trail for the moments it is not a perfect handoff.

The problem

Every login drops POS staff onto the Odoo backend dashboard first. A cashier then has to open the apps menu, find Point of Sale, pick the right session, and start it — two to three extra clicks at every shift change, till handover, and session timeout. On slower managed environments the backend loads even slower than POS itself, and non-technical staff end up exploring a backend they were never meant to see.

The solution

POS Direct Login Without Odoo Backend routes each assigned user straight to their terminal the instant they log in. When the primary till is not immediately usable, a branded launcher page shows live status for every assigned terminal, offers an available fallback, and logs the outcome — so staff are never stranded and managers always have a record of who reached which terminal and when.

Capabilities

Everything a multi-terminal team needs

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Direct-to-POS Login

Skip the backend dashboard entirely. A direct-login user is sent to their assigned Point of Sale terminal the moment they authenticate.

02

Per-User Terminal Assignments

Bind each user to one or more terminals in priority order, so every cashier reaches only their own till — never someone else's open session.

03

Live Terminal Status

Every assigned terminal reports its real-time status — available, in use, or unavailable — so staff and managers always know what to expect before entering.

04

Multi-Terminal Fallback

When the primary terminal is closed, offline, or occupied, the module automatically offers the next available assigned terminal instead of a dead end.

05

Shared Terminal Support

Flag any till as shared so multiple staff can rotate through one physical terminal, joining an open session instead of being blocked.

06

Branded Launcher Page

When a terminal is not immediately usable, a polished launcher page shows every assigned terminal's status with Enter, Retry, and recovery actions.

07

Backend Escape Hatch

A permission-aware fallback lets managers and authorized users reach the Odoo backend on demand, so troubleshooting never requires an administrator.

08

Full Audit Log

Every direct-login event is recorded — user, terminal assigned, terminal reached, and outcome — giving managers full oversight across every till.

09

Global Master Switch

Turn direct-login routing on or off for the whole company from Point of Sale settings, without touching a single user's assignment.

Workflow

How it works

1

Assign Terminals

Enable Direct Login for a user and assign one or more Point of Sale terminals in priority order from their user form.

2

User Logs In

The moment the user authenticates, the module checks their assigned terminals instead of loading the backend dashboard.

3

Instant Entry or Launcher

An available terminal opens immediately; otherwise the branded launcher shows live status and a clear next step.

4

Outcome Logged

Every login — direct, fallback, unavailable, or backend — is recorded in the audit log for managers to review.
