The problem
Native POS locks each product to one back-office tax rate. When a sale genuinely needs a different rate or a second layered tax — GST plus CESS, VAT plus surcharge — the only workarounds are duplicating products, editing tax rules mid-shift, or fixing the order after the fact, and nothing records that the change ever happened.
The solution
POS Dynamic Line Taxes adds a tax picker straight to the checkout screen. Cashiers select or combine the correct taxes on any line in seconds, using Odoo’s native tax computation so totals stay correct. Every override is written to a backend audit log with the cashier, order, product, and before/after taxes.

Multi-tax line override
Pick or combine multiple taxes on any order line via a dedicated popup, computed by Odoo’s native tax engine.
Name and rate, side by side
Every selectable tax shows its name and percentage together in the picker, for example “GST 18%”, so there is no guessing.
One tap from the register
The tax picker opens from the POS More actions dialog — no navigating away from the current order.
Per-terminal enablement
Turn the dynamic tax picker on or off per POS configuration, independently of every other register.
Restrict which taxes cashiers see
Limit the pool of selectable taxes per terminal to only the ones valid for that register or jurisdiction.
Configurable display mode
Choose show-all, total-only, or hidden as a stored per-terminal tax-display preference.
Full override audit trail
Every override is logged with the cashier, order, product, and the before/after taxes applied.
Readonly audit log detail
Drill from the list into a single override to see the default tax versus the applied tax, side by side.
Built on native tax computation
No custom tax math — totals stay consistent with standard Odoo accounting and reporting.
How it works
Enable and configure
Turn on the dynamic tax picker per POS terminal and set which taxes cashiers may choose from.
Ring up the sale
Add products to the order as usual — each line keeps its default product tax.
Override when needed
From the register’s More actions menu, open Taxes and pick or combine the correct rate(s) for that line.
Review the trail
Managers open the Tax Override Log to see every change, by cashier, order, and product.
