The problem
Work centers allow only one expense account, so labor cost is invisible in your general ledger and product valuation unless someone builds a spreadsheet and books manual journal entries. Controllers cannot see where labor cost accrues, cannot compare actual to expected cost per work order, and have no reporting once a manufacturing order closes.
