The problem
Warehouse and dispatch teams need a shipment's total weight to pick a carrier, price freight and stay within load limits — but Odoo does not roll product weight up onto the delivery order on its own. Staff eyeball it, re-key figures into a spreadsheet or the carrier's portal, or find out only when the courier reweighs the parcel and back-charges the difference.
The solution
Delivery Order Total Weight computes product weight and packaging weight automatically, combines them into one trustworthy total, and surfaces it on the delivery order, the sales order and the printed Delivery Slip. A persistent manual override handles exceptions, and the weight is always present — even when a picking is quick-validated in one click.

Automatic Per-Line Weight
Every move's weight is computed as unit weight times quantity, straight from the product master — no manual entry required.
Packaging Weight Included
Adds the tare weight of every result package's package type to the total, so boxes and pallets are never left out of the shipment weight.
One Trustworthy Total
Products Weight and Packaging Weight combine into a single Total Weight on the delivery order header, so dispatchers never under-declare a shipment.
Manual Override That Persists
Toggle Override Total Weight and enter your own figure for exceptions like custom packing; it stays in effect across every later recompute.
Reliable Quick Validate
Weight is guaranteed current at the moment a picking is validated, including one-click / immediate transfers, so a shipment never goes out with zero weight.
Stored, Always-Current Fields
Weights are stored computed fields, kept in sync whenever a move, package or quantity changes — no stale figures on the form or on reports.
Weight on the Delivery Slip
The printed Delivery Slip lists weight per line plus Products, Packaging and Total Weight — the paperwork carriers and customers actually receive.
Weight in Sales Order Views
Per-line weight and an order-level Total Weight appear on the sales order, so sales and dispatch can plan shipping before the transfer is even created.
