The problem
Palletized and LTL freight shippers juggle spreadsheets, tribal knowledge and manual carrier quotes to answer three linked questions: how many pallets does this order need, will they fit the truck, and what should freight actually cost. Carriers bill on chargeable weight while Odoo estimates on raw weight, pallets get sold as loose units that break customer minimums, and CMR notes and labels get produced outside the ERP and re-keyed by hand.

Pallet & Load Planning adds the missing chain inside Odoo: dimension capture, a reusable pallet and vehicle library, a guided wizard that packs handling units and checks weight, volume and loading-metre feasibility, dimensional and chargeable weight calculation, automatic pallet surcharges on sales orders, and CMR notes with SSCC-style labels generated straight from the load plan.

Reusable pallet/package types (stackable, max stack, tare weight, capacity multiplier) and vehicle/container types, pre-loaded with EUR, EUR half-pallet, US (GMA) and industrial pallets plus common trucks and 20ft/40ft containers.
Product & category dimension setup
Capture product length, width, height and weight, flag oversized items for special handling, and configure per-category pallet auto-insert rules: pallet product, units per pallet and default pallet type.
Guided load-planning wizard
A stepped flow — pick an order, choose a vehicle, recompute the preview — builds a full load plan without requiring any Odoo core knowledge.
Automatic handling-unit fit
A nearest-fit floor-packing engine places handling units onto the vehicle, computing real positions and SSCC codes instead of a volumetric guess.
Weight, volume & loading-metre feasibility
A Feasible/Infeasible ribbon and weight/volume/loading-metre progress bars tell you before loading whether a shipment fits and where it is constrained.
Dimensional & chargeable weight
A configurable dimensional-weight factor computes chargeable weight per shipment, so the quoted price matches what the carrier actually invoices.
Sales order pallet integration
Add Pallets and Create Load Plan buttons on the sales order auto-insert the pallet surcharge line, show pallet count and chargeable weight, and enforce a configurable partial-pallet policy (block, warn or off).
CMR notes & SSCC-style labels
Generate a CMR consignment note and SSCC-style handling-unit labels with Code128 barcodes directly from the load plan — no document re-keyed by hand.
Load build sheet & freight cost allocation
A printable load summary reports the feasibility verdict and handling-unit fit positions for the warehouse floor, alongside a simple freight-cost allocation field on the load.
