Odoo creates the outgoing delivery the moment a sales order is confirmed, whether or not the business is ready to ship. Make-to-order manufacturers, drop-shippers, service-heavy catalogs, and distributors who consolidate shipments end up with a pile of premature pickings that don't reflect real fulfillment intent, with no supported toggle to stop it.

Create Delivery Order Manually from Sale Order suppresses automatic delivery creation by company, warehouse, or product, then lets you create the delivery exactly when you decide: instantly, partially by line and quantity, in bulk across many orders, or on a scheduled date, while pending orders stay visible the whole time.

Suppress Automatic Delivery Creation
Turn off Odoo's default behavior of generating a delivery order the instant a sales order is confirmed, so shipping documents only exist once your fulfillment process is actually ready for them.
Company-Wide Default
Set a company-level default from Sales Settings so every new order starts in manual mode, matching a fulfillment model that never wants automatic deliveries.
Per-Warehouse Scope
Flag individual warehouses as manual-delivery so the suppression applies only where it's needed, while other warehouses keep the standard automatic flow untouched.
Per-Product Exclusion
Exclude specific products from automatic delivery creation, so a mixed catalog of stocked and made-to-order items can each follow their own fulfillment timing on the same order.
On-Demand Delivery Button
A clearly labeled Create Delivery Order button appears on every confirmed sales order that still has something to ship, so the action is impossible to miss.
Guided Partial Delivery Wizard
Pick exactly which order lines and quantities to deliver now with a step-through wizard that pre-fills remaining quantities, supporting repeated partial and split shipments from a single order.
Bulk Creation from the List
Select multiple confirmed sales orders in the list view and generate their delivery orders in a single action, matching how an order desk actually processes a day's orders.
Scheduled Delivery Creation
Set a future date on any manual order and a background job creates its delivery order automatically when that date arrives, with no manual reminder needed.
Pending-Delivery Visibility
An Awaiting Delivery Creation indicator and filter surface every confirmed order and line that still has no delivery order, so nothing is forgotten once automatic creation is off.
How it works
Scope the suppression
Turn on manual delivery at the company, warehouse, or product level, or leave it off so individual orders keep the standard automatic flow.
Confirm the sales order
Confirm as usual. No delivery order is created for lines covered by the suppression, and the order shows as awaiting delivery creation.
Create the delivery your way
Click Create Delivery Order for everything, open the wizard to pick lines and quantities, or select many orders and create their deliveries in bulk.
Or let it happen on schedule
Set a scheduled delivery date instead and the built-in job creates the delivery automatically when that date arrives — no need to come back.
