Bug tracking and QA, built into Odoo.

Dedicated bug records, QA test runs and audits, a public roadmap with voting, and defect-leakage analytics — all living next to the projects, tasks, and teams you already manage in Odoo.

The problem

Odoo's Project app merges bugs into tasks, so QA teams either bend generic tasks into something they were not built for, or pay $300+/month for a separate issue tracker such as Jira or Linear — losing the link between the bug, the customer who reported it, and the developer fixing it.

The solution

Software Bug & Issue Tracking gives bugs their own record with severity, detection phase, reproduction steps, and a guarded fix-verification lifecycle — plus QA test runs, audit sign-offs, a public roadmap, and defect-leakage analytics in one Odoo-native app.

Capabilities

Everything a QA team needs, in one app

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Dedicated Bug Records

Bugs are their own model with severity, priority, detection phase, and reproduction steps — not a generic task pretending to track a defect.

02

Auto-Generated Bug IDs

Every bug gets a sequential BUG-XXXX code for unambiguous reference in commits, chat, and customer conversations.

03

Guarded Workflow & Reopen

Bugs move New to In Progress to Fixed to Verified to Closed with explicit transition guards, plus a controlled reopen path when a fix does not hold.

04

One-Click Capture from Tasks

Report Bug and Create Test Case buttons on the project and task views let a developer file a defect without leaving their work.

05

Task-Progression Guardrails

Configure a project to warn or block moving a task to In Progress or Done while it still has unresolved bugs.

06

QA Test Runs & Audits

Run structured test cases with Pass, Fail, Block and Re-Test transitions, and score quality audits with a signed-off PDF report.

07

Defect-Leakage Analytics

A detection-phase by sprint/release pivot answers how many defects escaped to production — the reporting gap every competitor leaves open.

08

Customer Portal Intake

External reporters submit and track their own issues from a clean customer portal, fully separated from the internal QA and dev backend.

09

Public Roadmap & Changelog

A public roadmap with one-vote-per-user prioritization and an auto-published changelog keeps users informed as items ship.

Workflow

How it works

1

Report

File a bug from the dedicated list, a project task, or the customer portal — each gets a sequential BUG-XXXX code automatically.

2

Triage

Set severity, priority, and detection phase, then route the bug to a sprint, release, and assignee with smart-button visibility from the linked project and task.

3

Verify

QA runs test cases against the fix with Pass, Fail, Block and Re-Test outcomes, and audits score the release before sign-off.

4

Ship & Publish

Close the bug, publish roadmap items as shipped, and let the auto-generated changelog and defect-leakage dashboards keep everyone informed.

Questions

Frequently asked

No sales fog. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it the same way.

Bugs are a standalone record type with their own fields and lifecycle, and they optionally link to an existing project and task. You keep using Project tasks for general work while bugs get the defect-specific fields — severity, detection phase, reproduction steps — that a generic task cannot hold.
