The problem
Odoo's native sales documents are built for A4 invoices, not for the fast, compact thermal receipts a shop counter or restaurant needs. Counter staff either bolt on a full POS app they do not otherwise want, or reformat documents by hand — breaking the natural quotation to sales order flow, with no printed audit trail and no way to reprint a receipt for a returning customer.
