The problem
Native Odoo section dividers are cosmetic: they carry no value, no subtotal, and vanish the moment a line is edited. On a 200-line proposal negotiated phase by phase, reps hand-tally section costs, and the invoice the customer receives no longer matches the sectioned quote they approved.
The solution
Every order line carries a stored, persistent section that survives product, quantity, and price changes. Each section shows a live, auto-recalculating subtotal, rolls up through one level of sub-sections, and propagates automatically onto the invoice and customer portal.
