The problem
Salespeople can price a quotation below policy — a steep discount, a low-tier pricelist — with no structured checkpoint. Today that relies on a manager happening to glance at a deal, or an email chased down informally. Discounts slip through, margin erodes, and there is no defensible record of who approved what.
The solution
Define a matrix of approval tiers keyed on discount percentage, order amount, pricelist and product category. Any quotation that breaches a tier is blocked from confirmation until every triggered tier is approved, worked from a color-coded queue built for salespeople and approvers to move fast.

Pricelist-aware threshold matrix
Define approval tiers on discount % or order amount, optionally scoped to one pricelist and one product category — so deep-discount tiers only bite where they should, for example only on your Reseller pricelist.
Automatic multi-tier escalation
Every tier a quotation breaches must be approved before it can be confirmed. Tiers stack — a deal that trips both a discount tier and a big-deal amount tier routes to both approvers.
Color-coded approval queue
A dedicated list and kanban queue shows every pending request with red, orange, green and gray decorations for overdue, pending, approved and rejected — so approvers see what needs attention first, grouped by salesperson.
One-click approve or reject
Approve or reject directly from the queue list or kanban card, or from the request form's status bar — no need to open the underlying quotation first.
Reject with reason capture
Rejecting a request opens a wizard that requires a reason, so the salesperson gets actionable feedback and every rejection is recorded on the audit trail.
Batch approval
Select multiple pending requests in the queue list and run Approve Selected to clear a backlog in one action instead of opening each request individually.
SLA and overdue tracking
Each tier defines an SLA in hours. Requests past their deadline are flagged overdue in the queue automatically, so a stalled approval is never silent.
Approval Manager bypass
Users in the Approval Manager group can confirm any quotation regardless of pending approvals, with every bypass logged to the order's chatter for accountability.
Full audit trail on every quotation
Each sale order shows its approval state, a notebook page listing every tier request with approver, decision date and reason, and a chatter log of every approval, rejection and bypass.
How it works
Configure tiers
Set up approval tiers under Sales > Configuration with a discount or amount threshold, optional pricelist and category filter, approvers and an SLA.
Salesperson requests approval
When a quotation breaches a tier, Confirm is replaced with Request Approval, which creates one request per triggered tier and notifies the approvers.
Approver works the queue
Approvers work from the color-coded queue — or the request form — approving, rejecting with a reason, or batch-approving several requests at once.
Order confirms once cleared
Once every triggered tier is approved, the salesperson can confirm the order. Approval Managers may bypass the gate at any time, with the bypass logged.
