A barcode entry bar built into Odoo’s native Add from Catalog picker lets sales reps scan or type a barcode to add the matching item to a quotation instantly — no browsing required.
The problem
Order desks and inside sales reps building large, multi-line quotations for distributors and wholesalers still have to search the product catalog, pick the right variant, and set a quantity for every single item — on a forty-line order that is forty repetitive round trips even with Odoo’s native visual catalog picker.
The solution
Sale Add From Catalog drops a barcode entry bar directly inside Odoo’s native Add from Catalog picker. Scan or type a barcode and the matching product’s quantity increments on the quotation immediately, with a configurable scan-step quantity so one scan adds exactly what a rep needs.

Barcode bar inside the native catalog
A barcode entry field is added straight into Odoo’s Add from Catalog picker, right next to the Back to Quotation button, so reps never leave the catalog view to scan.
Instant quantity increment
Press Enter after a scan and the matched product’s quantity on the order updates immediately; scanning the same barcode again adds another increment instead of creating a duplicate line.
Configurable scan-step quantity
Set how much quantity each scan adds — one unit, a case size, or any custom step — from a single field in Sales settings.
One-toggle enable/disable
Turn the barcode bar on or off company-wide from a dedicated Add from Catalog block in Sales > Configuration > Settings.
Clear feedback on every scan
A success notification names the product and its new quantity; an unmatched barcode raises a plain warning instead of failing silently or adding the wrong line.
Built on the native catalog experience
Visual browsing, in-picker search, category and attribute filters, and live stock availability all come from Odoo’s own Add from Catalog picker, so the barcode bar layers on top without replacing anything reps already know.
How it works
Open Add from Catalog
From any quotation, click Add from Catalog above the order lines to open the native product picker without leaving the order.
Scan or type a barcode
Use the barcode bar next to Back to Quotation to scan with a hardware scanner or type the barcode by hand.
Press Enter to add
The matching product’s quantity is added or incremented on the order instantly, using the configured scan-step quantity.
Repeat and confirm
Scan the next item, or browse and search the catalog as usual, then return to the quotation with every line already correct.
