Message Citing adds a fast, keyboard-first way to quote earlier messages in Discuss and chatter — ranked search, multi-select, a live preview, and configurable templates, so every reply carries the exact context it needs.
The problem
Long Discuss threads, helpdesk tickets, and CRM conversations pile up dozens of messages over days or weeks. Responding to one specific earlier point means scrolling back, hunting for it by eye, then copy-pasting text that loses who said it and when — leaving readers to wonder what “as you mentioned earlier” even refers to.
The solution
Message Citing puts a Cite Message action right in the composer, with an alt+q hotkey. Search current or global message history, filter by author and date, multi-select the messages you need, reorder them, and see the exact quoted block before you insert it — fully attributed, visually distinct, and ready to send.

Every citation you insert is logged with its messages, template, and destination thread, so you can review or reuse past citations from Settings.
How it works
Open the dialog
Click Cite Message in the composer or press alt+q from any Discuss channel or chatter thread.
Search and filter
Type a search term and narrow by author or date; results are ranked by relevance as you type.
Select and preview
Multi-select the messages you need, reorder them, and review the live formatted preview.
Insert and reply
Insert the citation into your message and keep typing — the citation is logged automatically for later reuse.
