The problem
A PDF invoice looks identical whether it is fully paid, overdue, or cancelled — Odoo tracks the real status internally, but that status never travels with the document a customer actually receives by email or downloads from the portal. The result is duplicate payment requests, avoidable support tickets, and awkward audits where nobody can prove a document’s state at a glance.
The solution
This module resolves the invoice’s live state — Paid, In Payment, Partially Paid, Overdue, Draft, Cancelled, or Reversed — the moment a PDF is generated, and stamps a configurable text watermark on every page. The mark is CSS-only and fails safe, so it can never blank a page or break a report, and a live preview lets you confirm exactly how it will look before it reaches a customer.

Seven states, not just Paid
Automatic watermarks for Paid, In Payment, Partially Paid, Overdue, Draft, Cancelled, and Reversed invoices — the full lifecycle, not the single state every competitor stops at.
Correct on every page
The mark is rendered with a fixed-position CSS class that repeats on every page of a multi-page PDF, so long invoices stay unambiguous from the first page to the last.
Per-state text, color, and position
Configure the label, hex color, opacity, font size, and placement — diagonal, header, or footer — independently for each of the seven states from a single configuration screen.
Live preview before it ships
Every watermark rule renders a live preview right on its form, so you see exactly how the mark will look before a customer ever opens the PDF.
Fails safe, never silent
The watermark is pure CSS layered over the existing report template. It adds no external dependency and can never blank a page, drop a header, or break rendering.

Configure your rules
Review the seven pre-configured watermark rules in Accounting > Configuration > Invoice Watermarks, or adjust text, color, opacity, and position to fit your brand.
Post or update the invoice
As an invoice moves through draft, posted, paid, partial, overdue, cancelled, or reversed, the module resolves its watermark state automatically — no action needed.
Preview the result
Open any rule’s live preview, or check the color-coded badge on the invoice form, to confirm exactly what will appear on the PDF.
Export or send with confidence
Every PDF — emailed, downloaded from the portal, or printed — carries the correct watermark on every page, automatically.
