The problem
HR and payroll teams have no first-class way to classify employees into grades or ranks in vanilla Odoo. Job titles, free-text fields, and spreadsheets fill the gap, making pay-band consistency, seniority decisions, and grade-driven access control impossible to sustain as headcount grows.

Hierarchical Grade Structure
Organize grades in a parent/child hierarchy with sequence-based ordering and a full breadcrumb name, so structures of any depth stay readable in lists and reports.
Multi-Rank Tiers with Salary Bands
Add unlimited ranks under each grade, each carrying its own salary minimum and maximum, a code, and a rich job description.
Department-Scoped Grades
Restrict a grade to specific departments so your grade structure can mirror the organization's own reporting lines.
Payroll-Linked Grade Amount
A per-grade percentage automatically computes a grade amount from the employee's contract wage, kept in sync whenever the wage or the grade changes.
Manual Override with Full Audit Trail
Correct the computed grade amount by hand when needed; overrides are flagged and tracked in the chatter, and a one-click reset restores the automatic calculation.
Automatic Seniority Bonus
A per-grade seniority percentage combines with the employee's years of contract tenure to compute an automatic seniority bonus for every grade member.
Salary-Band Compliance Warnings
When an employee's wage falls outside their rank's salary band, a clear, non-blocking message flags it for review without stopping any workflow.
Grade-Based Access Control
Link a grade to an access group so the moment an employee with a linked user is assigned that grade, their user is automatically granted the group.
Bulk Grade & Rank Assignment
Select any number of employees from the directory and assign a grade and rank to all of them in one action, with an option to skip employees who already have a grade.
How it works
Configure grades and ranks
Under Employees > Configuration > Grades & Ranks, define grades with a percentage and seniority bonus, then add ranks with salary bands and job positions.
Assign employees
Set the grade and rank on an employee's HR Settings tab, or bulk-assign them to many employees at once from the list view.
Let it calculate
The grade amount, seniority bonus, and salary-band check compute automatically from the contract wage and tenure, with manual override always available.
Track and report
Every grade change is tracked in the chatter, and the Grade Analysis pivot/graph report breaks down headcount and grade amount by grade and rank.
