List views that follow you everywhere

Reorder, hide, relabel and resize any backend list view column, then save it as a layout that is stored on the server — not the browser — so it is there on every device, every login, every time.

The problem

Odoo's native list views ship with a fixed column order and labels set by a developer. Changing them means editing XML, buying Studio, or living with a layout that does not match how your team actually reads its data — and every arrangement a user does manage to save in the browser disappears the moment they switch devices or clear their cache.

The solution

Dynamic List View lets anyone reorder, hide, relabel and resize columns from the list itself, then saves the result server-side as a named layout. Layouts resolve through a clear personal > role > team > global hierarchy, and a manager can lock a shared layout so a whole team sees the same, consistent view.

Capabilities

Everything a list layout needs

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Drag-and-drop reordering

Drag a column handle to move it, or use the up/down keyboard fallback for accessible, mouse-free reordering.

02

Show and hide columns

Toggle any column's visibility from the layout editor and see the change on the list instantly, no page reload.

03

Custom column labels

Rename any column header to the term your team actually uses, without touching a view definition.

04

Column width control

Set a width per column alongside the reorder and visibility settings, all from the same editor.

05

One-click reset

Restore a layout to the developer-defined default order, labels and visibility in a single click.

06

Server-side persistence

Layouts are stored as records on the server, not in browser localStorage, so they follow a user across devices, browsers and logins.

07

Personal, role and team layers

Save a layout as personal, tied to a role group, tied to a team group, or global — each layer resolves in a clear, predictable order.

08

Lockable Global Mode

A manager can lock a shared layout so it overrides personal choices — ideal for standardizing a view across a whole team at go-live.

09

Bulk configuration and history

A consultant wizard configures or resets layouts across many models and users at once, and every change is kept in a readable audit trail.

Workflow

How it works

1

Open Layout Manager

Create a new layout for any model, or load the columns already showing in an existing list view.

2

Arrange columns

Drag to reorder, toggle visibility, rename labels and set widths in the columns editor.

3

Set the scope

Save it as personal, role, team or global, and lock it if it should override everyone's own choice.

4

Apply and go

Open the list view for that model and the resolved layout is already there, no reload required.

On the server, as regular Odoo records. Nothing is kept in browser localStorage, so a layout is exactly the same after a device change, a fresh login or a cleared cache.
