The problem
Odoo users working inside a record spend their day cross-referencing other records: a partner's phone number, a related order, a reference value. Native search lives in the list view, so finding it means leaving the form, running a search, remembering the answer, and navigating back — a repetitive, error-prone context switch that slows down high-volume data entry.
The solution
A magnifier icon in the systray is available on every backend screen, including every form view. Click it, pick a configuration, and start typing — results appear in real time from the model you need, filtered by facets you define, with a single click to jump straight to the matching record.

Every search runs as the current user through the standard ORM, so access rights and record rules are enforced automatically — users never see data they are not permitted to view.
