One picker, two calendars everywhere in Odoo
Umm al-Qura Hijri dates alongside Gregorian in every form, list, search filter, calendar, and kanban date picker — no per-field setup, no manual conversion.
The problem
Odoo shows only the Gregorian calendar, so Hijri-primary teams in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf convert dates in their heads on every purchase order, HR contract, and invoice — a habit that produces costly data-entry mistakes on legally binding documents.
The solution
A single patch to Odoo's shared date picker overlays the Umm al-Qura Hijri calendar next to the Gregorian one everywhere a date field appears, so every date is entered and read correctly the first time — with zero per-field configuration.
Everything the Hijri picker does
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Dual calendar, every view
Odoo routes all date pickers — form fields, inline list edit, search-panel filters, and calendar/kanban pickers — through one shared component, so a single patch overlays Hijri everywhere at once.
Umm al-Qura, clearly labeled
The Hijri calendar uses the Umm al-Qura (civil/tabular) standard, the operational calendar of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, and the variant is labeled explicitly in Settings and the picker — no ambiguity about which Hijri rules are in use.
Weekday-aligned day grid
Every Gregorian day cell shows its matching Hijri day number directly underneath, so both calendars are visible at once with no separate navigation or mental conversion.
Correct value on selection
Whichever date you click, the exact value you selected is the one echoed back into the field — fixing the selection-feedback mistakes that plague other Hijri pickers.
Per-user display preference
Each user chooses Gregorian, Hijri, or Dual as their default view, and can hide the Gregorian field entirely for a Hijri-only experience.
One-toggle global control
A single switch in General Settings turns the Hijri overlay on or off instance-wide, with no other configuration required after install.
Datetime fields, untouched time
Datetime fields keep Odoo's native time picker exactly as-is; only the date grid gains the Hijri overlay, keeping time entry unambiguous and Gregorian as it should be.
Hijri output for reports
A dedicated conversion service model makes Hijri-formatted dates available to QWeb reports and RPC calls, sharing the exact same conversion algorithm as the picker so client and server always agree.
Arabic month names
Hijri month names render in Arabic automatically for Arabic-language users, in both the picker header and report output, with English as the default elsewhere.
How it works
Install
Install the module; the Hijri overlay is on by default instance-wide, with no extra configuration.
Open any date field
Click a date or datetime field in any form, list, search filter, calendar, or kanban view.
See both calendars
The picker shows Gregorian and Hijri (Umm al-Qura) month and year together, with Hijri day numbers under each Gregorian day.
Pick and confirm
Select a date in either calendar and the exact value chosen appears in the field, formatted per your Gregorian, Hijri, or Dual display preference.

Umm al-Qura (civil/tabular), the same standard used for Saudi Arabia's civil calendar. The variant is labeled explicitly in Settings and the picker so there is no ambiguity about which intercalation rules are applied.
