Sell in their currency, invoice in yours

Sale Invoice Company Currency converts foreign-currency customer invoices into your company currency at a locked, audit-defensible rate — with full provenance, a safe fallback, and a reconciliation workflow no competitor offers.

The problem

Sales teams invoice international customers in their currency, but finance must report everything in the company currency. Odoo computes that conversion silently in the background, buried where nobody checking the invoice will find it — leaving finance teams to reconcile two views by hand, an error-prone chore that costs 2–5 hours a week.

The solution

Sale Invoice Company Currency converts every invoice into your home currency at posting, locks the rate to the invoice date, and shows both currencies side by side on the form and on the printed report — with visible rate provenance, a configurable fallback, and a guided reconciliation workflow when rates move after posting.

Capabilities

Everything finance needs to trust the number

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Company-Currency Total, Front and Center

The home-currency equivalent appears on the main invoice screen next to the invoice-currency total, not buried in the Other Information tab.

02

Rate Locked at Posting

The exchange rate is captured as of the invoice date and frozen at posting, so the home-currency figure never shifts after the fact.

03

Visible Rate Provenance

Every conversion shows its source and a freshness indicator, so finance can trust the number before an invoice goes out.

04

Fallback Rate on Lookup Failure

If a live rate is unavailable, a configurable fallback rate applies automatically with a clear warning, instead of a blank or silently wrong figure.

05

Per-Partner Invoicing Currency

Override the company default for individual customers with a first-class “Switch Invoicing Currency” field on their Invoicing tab.

06

Company-Wide Currency Configuration

Set the default invoicing currency, rate source, fallback rate, and staleness window once, for every invoice, from Settings.

07

Full Rate Audit Trail

Every posting, reconciliation, and refresh event is logged per invoice, giving finance a complete, reviewable history.

08

Post-Posting Reconciliation Wizard

When rates change after posting, a guided wizard lets a human review and correct the applied rate instead of leaving a dead end.

09

Batch Rate-Refresh Wizard

Refresh exchange rates across a batch of selected invoices in one action, instead of reworking documents one at a time.

Workflow

How it works

1

Configure your currency rules

Set the company default invoicing currency, rate source, fallback rate, and staleness threshold once, in Settings.

2

Set customer overrides

Pin a specific invoicing currency to individual partners whose invoices should not follow the company default.

3

Post with a locked, transparent rate

The invoice locks the rate at posting and shows both currencies with full provenance, right on the main form.

4

Audit and reconcile

Review the rate log, reconcile invoices after a rate moves, or batch-refresh rates across open documents.

Questions

Frequently asked

No sales fog. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it the same way.

No. Customers still see the invoice in the currency you issued it in. The module adds a parallel, locked company-currency total and a printed dual-currency report — it does not alter the customer-facing transaction currency.
