The problem
Legacy thermal, serial, and kitchen printers only understand plain text, but Odoo's default POS receipt renders as HTML for graphical or PDF printing. When a printer cannot handle that format, cashiers cannot hand over a receipt and kitchens never see an order ticket — forcing merchants into slow raster workarounds or costly hardware upgrades.

In-POS Text Receipt Access

Configurable Line Width
Set the line width in characters to match your paper — 32 for 58mm rolls, 48 for 80mm, or any custom width from 20 to 120.
Separator & Alignment Control
Choose the separator character that draws the horizontal rules, and center or left-align the header and footer text.

Encode receipts as UTF-8, ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1), CP437 for legacy thermal hardware, or transliterated ASCII, so accented characters never garble.

Download a single order as a.txt file, select many orders and export them all as one.zip, or email the receipt straight to the customer.

Open Point of Sale Settings and set line width, separator, alignment, header, footer, encoding, and line ending once per point of sale.

Open any order and switch to its Text Receipt tab to see the exact receipt that will print, download, or send.

From the register, the order form, or the order list, get a.txt file, a batch.zip, or an emailed receipt.
Reprint anytime
Every paid order keeps its text receipt on record, so staff can regenerate and resend it whenever it is needed.
