A portal that leads with the answer, not a list of records

Give customers and vendors an at-a-glance view of balance, overdue amount, and recent activity the moment they log in — instead of a wall of paginated invoices and orders they have to open one by one.

The problem

The native Odoo portal shows customers and vendors flat, paginated lists of invoices and orders with no visual context. A partner logging in cannot tell at a glance how much they owe, what is overdue, or what changed since their last visit — so they open records one by one or email your staff to ask, defeating the purpose of a self-service portal.

The solution

Portal Dashboard adds a dedicated, persona-aware dashboard page that leads with the numbers users came for: outstanding balance, overdue amount, and recent activity, backed by a 6-month chart and a color-coded status breakdown. Pre-built customer, vendor, and partner templates mean it works out of the box, and every widget, color, and layout choice is configurable from the backend.

Capabilities

Everything a portal user needs, above the fold

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Lead-with-the-answer KPI tiles

Outstanding balance, overdue amount, invoice count, and order count render as clear tiles at the top of the page — no digging through record lists.

02

Pre-built persona templates

Ready-made customer, vendor, and partner dashboard layouts mean the portal is live in minutes, not assembled from an empty canvas.

03

Configurable widget layout

Reorder, resize, recolor, and re-icon every widget per template from the backend, so the layout matches how each persona actually works.

04

6-month activity chart

A rolling six-month bar chart turns invoiced amounts into a visible trend instead of a column of numbers to mentally total.

05

Invoice status donut

A paid/open/overdue breakdown renders as a donut with a legend, so account health reads instantly.

06

Color-coded status indicators

Overdue, paid, and pending states are color-coded on every tile and list row, so users read status without opening a single record.

07

Recent-document lists

Recent invoices and orders list with status pills and one click through to the full document, cutting the open-each-record grind.

08

Contextual help tooltips

Inline tooltips explain every widget, so first-time portal visitors are not left guessing what a number means.

09

Branding & "since your last visit"

Set an accent color and welcome message from Settings, and returning users see a badge for what changed since they last logged in.

Workflow

How it works

1

Install & configure

Install the app and set the accent color and welcome message under Settings > Portal Dashboard.

2

Arrange the templates

Adjust the default customer, vendor, and partner templates, or add widgets, from the Portal Dashboard app.

3

Users log in

Customers and vendors sign in to the portal and see a "My Dashboard" card with an overdue badge on their home page.

4

The dashboard renders

Balance, overdue amount, activity chart, status donut, and recent documents render live, scoped to that partner's own records.
