The problem
Machines break down, materials run short, quality holds are raised, and higher-priority orders jump the queue — but standard Odoo Manufacturing has no first-class way to freeze an order. Teams either leave it running while it sits idle on the floor, corrupting scheduling and time data, or cancel and recreate it, destroying traceability and consumed-component history.
The solution
Pause / Restart gives Manufacturing Orders a real paused state: a one-click Pause with a mandatory, categorized reason freezes the order and its work orders, notifies followers, and logs everything. Restart resumes cleanly, scheduled auto-resume can end a stoppage on its own, and every pause feeds a plant-wide dashboard and delay report.

One-Click Pause & Restart
Pause or resume a Manufacturing Order from a header button, with a clear Paused ribbon on the form so status is unmistakable at a glance.
Reason Templates & Categories
A reason is always required to pause. Choose from preset templates grouped into root-cause categories such as Equipment, Material, Quality, and Planning.
Automatic Work Order Propagation
Pausing an order freezes its running and ready work orders and closes open timers; restarting releases them so the floor matches the system.
Persistent Pause History
Every pause and restart is logged on the order with who paused it, the reason, the category, and the exact duration — a full auditable trail.
Delay & Root-Cause Analysis
A dedicated Pause Analysis list, pivot, and graph turn logged pauses into reports on total delay by reason, category, and period.
Delivery Date Impact Preview
While an order is paused, its projected finish date shifts by the accumulated pause time, so the form shows how the stoppage affects delivery.
Scheduled Auto-Resume
Set a resume date and time when pausing for a known-duration event, and a scheduled action restarts the order automatically — no manual follow-up needed.
Manager Approval Workflow
Turn on a per-company setting so a non-manager's pause waits as pending until a manager approves or rejects it, adding governance for costly stoppages.
Paused-Orders Dashboard & List Visibility
A plant-wide dashboard groups every paused order by root cause, and the Manufacturing Orders list gets a paused indicator plus quick Pause and Restart actions, including on several orders at once.
How it works
Pause with a Reason
Click Pause on the order, or several at once, pick a preset reason and category, add a note, and optionally set an auto-resume time. A reason is always required.
Work Orders Freeze
Linked work orders that are running or ready are flagged paused and their open timers closed, so the floor state matches the order.
Track & Analyze
Every pause is logged with who, when, why, and how long. Review the Pause Analysis list, pivot, and the plant-wide Paused Orders dashboard by root cause.
Restart or Auto-Resume
Click Restart to release the work orders and resume the order, or let a scheduled auto-resume close the pause out automatically at the time you set.
