The problem
A confirmed purchase order is supposed to be a binding commitment, but Odoo leaves it broadly editable. A clerk can quietly change a unit price, swap a product, or alter a quantity after confirmation, silently breaking the match between what was agreed, what was received, and what is billed — and leaving finance and audit teams with no record of what happened or who did it.
The solution
Lock Confirmed Purchase Orders freezes quantity, price, and product the moment an order is confirmed, explains the restriction with a visible banner, and gives only authorized managers a one-click unlock that requires a written reason. Every lock and unlock is logged with who, when, and why, turning the control into something finance and audit teams can actually trust.

Every lock and unlock event is logged with who acted, when, whether it was automatic or manual, and the reason given.
Manager-only unlock permission
A dedicated security group, implied for purchasing managers, decides who may unlock — not a global switch everyone shares.
Selective field locking
Internal notes and the expected arrival date stay editable while commercially binding fields remain frozen — no all-or-nothing lock.
Visual lock indicator
A lock ribbon and an explanatory banner on the order tell users why fields are frozen instead of leaving them silently disabled.
Configurable auto-lock policy
Choose, per company, whether orders lock immediately on confirmation or after a configurable delay.

Apply lock or unlock actions to many purchase orders at once, straight from the list view's Actions menu.
Email notification on lock changes
Followers are notified in the chatter whenever an order is locked or unlocked, so committed-order changes are never invisible.
