The problem
Once a task is assigned, its deadline can pass silently inside a Kanban column with nobody nudged. Remote and distributed teams have no informal check-ins to catch it, and managers only discover slipping work when a client or colleague complains — by then it is reactive firefighting, not proactive management.

A daily cron tracks every task's reminder status — due soon, due today or overdue — and sends one digest per person, by email and Odoo inbox, to the assignee. Project managers get a separate rollup of what their team is slipping on, plus a live dashboard of every overdue and upcoming task in one place.

One lifecycle, three phases
Every task carries a Due Soon, Due Today or Overdue status computed daily, unifying pre-deadline warnings and post-deadline follow-ups in a single setting screen instead of separate products.
Configurable timing windows
Set how many days before the deadline a warning fires, add an overdue grace period before follow-ups start, and choose how often overdue reminders repeat — no fixed, hard-coded windows.
Email + in-app inbox delivery
Every reminder is delivered through Odoo's own notification routing, so each recipient gets it in whichever channel they actually check — email, Odoo inbox, or both.
One digest per person
Every due-soon, due-today and overdue task for a user is batched into a single daily summary listing task, project, deadline and status — never one email per task flooding an inbox.
Manager overview dashboard
A dedicated Kanban and list dashboard groups every slipping task by reminder status across a manager's projects, giving true portfolio-level visibility instead of a stack of emails to read through.
Manager rollup, not a duplicate
Project managers receive a consolidated summary of everything slipping across their team, separate from and tailored differently to the assignee's own digest — no redundant copy-paste emails.
Per-project and per-task control
Set reminder timing and behaviour per project, then let any individual task override the enable flag and warning window when it needs its own cadence — with sensible defaults that work on install.
Stage-aware exclusions
Done and cancelled tasks never trigger reminders, and admins can pick any additional stage — parked, on hold, archived — to exclude from the reminder engine entirely.
Deadline or creation-date aging
Choose whether a task's age is measured from its deadline or from the day it was created, so teams tracking overall staleness are covered as well as deadline-driven teams.

Override the timing, aging basis and manager notification for an individual project, or let a single high-stakes task set its own reminder window.

Every day the reminder engine refreshes each task's status, decides who is newly due soon, due today or overdue, and sends one digest per recipient.

Assignees click straight into the task from their reminder; managers open the overview dashboard to see everything slipping across their projects at once.
