The problem
By default, Odoo lets done quantities exceed what a sales order, purchase order, or bill of materials actually calls for. A mis-scan, a fat-fingered quantity, or a duplicate line ships too much, receives too much, or produces too much — and the surplus quietly enters your books. Stock valuation drifts, customers are over-shipped, suppliers are over-received, and month-end reconciliation turns into a manual hunt for the difference.
The solution
This module compares every delivery, receipt, internal transfer, and manufacturing order against its source demand and stops the ones that go too far. A company-wide mode and tolerance set the baseline; per-category and per-warehouse rules refine it. When a real block fires, the operator sees exactly what happened and can request a supervisor's one-click override, so the protection stays on instead of being switched off the first time it is inconvenient.

Block over-quantity deliveries
Stops a delivery from being marked done when the picked quantity exceeds the sales order line quantity, closing the most common over-shipment error at the source.
Block over-quantity receipts
Validates incoming receipts against the purchase order quantity so warehouse staff cannot confirm a receipt line beyond what was actually ordered.
Block over-quantity transfers
Applies the same demand check to internal transfers, stopping a movement the moment the completed quantity exceeds the requested quantity.
Block over-quantity manufacturing
Prevents a manufacturing order from finishing when the produced quantity exceeds the bill-of-materials demand quantity.
Configurable tolerance
Set no tolerance, a fixed quantity, or a percentage of demand at the company level, so legitimate variances pass while genuine errors are still stopped.
Category and warehouse override rules
Layer per-product-category and per-warehouse rules with their own mode and tolerance on top of the company default, resolved by specificity for each operation.
Supervisor override workflow
When a block is hit for a legitimate reason, the operator requests an override directly from the block dialog and a supervisor approves or rejects it — protection never has to be switched off.
Immutable audit trail
Every blocked, flagged, and approved event is recorded with who, what, and when, and cannot be edited or deleted after the fact.
Pivot and graph reporting
Analyze restriction violations by operator, product, and warehouse in built-in pivot and graph views to track patterns over time.
How it works
Configure the rule
Turn on restriction enforcement in Inventory settings, choose block or warn mode, set the default tolerance, and add category or warehouse overrides if needed.
Process the operation
Operators pick, receive, transfer, or produce as usual — validation runs automatically when the operation is marked done.
Resolve a block
If the done quantity exceeds the allowed demand, a dialog shows the source document, demand, attempted quantity, and overage, with a one-click request for supervisor override.
Review and audit
Supervisors approve or reject override requests, and every blocked, flagged, or approved event lands in the audit trail with pivot and graph reporting.
