Your BOM cost, fully analyzed in Excel
Turn Odoo's static BOM Structure & Cost screen into a multi-level, colour-coded cost analysis tool with standard-vs-actual variance, what-if simulation, and one-click Excel/CSV export — access-controlled so only finance sees the numbers.
The problem
Odoo's native BOM Structure & Cost report is a screen-and-PDF view. It cannot be filtered, re-sorted, pivoted, or handed to a supplier or auditor without Odoo access. Cost engineers re-key it into Excel by hand, and there is no way to compare standard cost against what components actually cost, or restrict who in the company can see that cost data at all.
The solution
A wizard, launched from any BOM or from a multi-selection in the BOM list, builds a live, on-screen cost report: full multi-level hierarchy, standard vs. actual cost per component, colour-coded variance, what-if and scrap simulation, and rolled-up totals with margin — then exports it to a pivot-ready Excel workbook or CSV, with every export logged for audit and gated behind a dedicated cost-access role.
Everything a cost accountant needs
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Multi-level BOM hierarchy
Every sub-assembly and component is shown indented in true parent/child order, with a rolled-up cost for each assembly level so the real product structure is never flattened into a single list.
Standard vs. actual cost variance
Compares each component's standard cost against its best current vendor price and colour-codes the difference — red for over-cost, green for under-cost — so drift is spotted instantly instead of computed by hand.
What-if price simulation
Apply a single percentage shift to every component's actual purchase cost and instantly see the impact on total BOM cost and margin before it ever hits the P&L.
Scrap & yield-loss factor
Add a scrap/yield-loss percentage that scales every component quantity, turning a theoretical cost into a realistic manufactured cost.
Multi-currency aware
Choose the report's display currency and every cost line is converted on the fly, so global manufacturers costing in more than one currency get accurate totals.
Structure, Cost, or Both — folded or unfolded
Pick Structure Only to share with suppliers, Cost Only or Both for internal analysis, and toggle between a folded executive summary or a fully unfolded component-level view.
Assembly rollup & margin
Cost accumulates automatically up every sub-assembly, and the report totals include sale value and resulting margin — turning a data dump into a decision tool.
Bulk export to Excel or CSV
Select many BOMs at once from the BOM list and export them all into a single workbook (one sheet per BOM) or a combined CSV, in one action.
Role-based access & audit trail
A dedicated Cost Manager role restricts who can see cost and variance data; every export is logged with user, format, and totals for full accountability.
How it works
Select one or many BOMs
Click Cost Report from a single BOM form, or select several BOMs in the BOM list and launch the wizard in bulk.
Configure the report
Choose Structure, Cost, or Both, folded or unfolded, report currency, and any what-if or scrap percentage to simulate.
Compute & review
Preview the full hierarchy on screen with colour-coded variance and rolled-up totals, sale value, and margin.
Export & audit
Download the Excel workbook or CSV in one click; every export is automatically logged for later audit.

Actual cost uses the component's cheapest current vendor price, converted to the report currency. If a component has no vendor price on file, actual cost falls back to its standard cost, so the report is always populated even for internally-made parts.
