The problem
Year-end closing is a multi-step accounting process spread across many unconnected screens, with no unified checklist and no status tracking. The accountant carries the entire close in their head, and native fiscal-year configuration is buried under a non-obvious settings path — so a missed step, like an unreconciled account, is only discovered after the fact.
The solution
Fiscal Year Close adds one guided close checklist with visible progress and blocking validation, plus a setup wizard for common and custom fiscal calendars. Closing a year writes Odoo’s native lock date and can hard-lock posting, so incomplete steps are caught before the books close — not after.

Configure fiscal years for any calendar — January-December, April-March, July-June, October-September, or a fully custom range — from one preset-driven form.
Guided Setup Wizard
Create a new fiscal year in a few clicks: pick a preset and a starting year, and the wizard computes the correct start and end dates and name automatically.
Blocking-Aware Close Checklist
A generated, ordered checklist covers tax reports, reconciliation, depreciation, deferrals, provisions, and earnings allocation — each step tracked as to do, in progress, blocked, done, or skipped.
Visible Close Progress
A live progress bar and blocking-step indicator show exactly how far the close has gotten and which outstanding steps are holding it up.
Enforced Lock Dates
Closing a fiscal year writes Odoo’s native fiscal-year lock date and can be hard-locked, so journal entries can no longer post into it — enforced natively and by the module’s own posting guard.
Out-of-Period Exception Report
Every posted journal entry is checked against its fiscal year’s state, and a dedicated report surfaces entries posted into a closed or locked period so anomalies are caught early.
Doubtful-Accounts Calculator
Compute an allowance for doubtful accounts as a percentage of outstanding receivables, or enter a manual base amount, and record it as a provision in one click.
Provision Tracking
Track provisions for uncertain liabilities with probability, amount, and a draft, confirmed, reversed state machine — linked to the fiscal year they belong to.
Pre-Close Reminders & Multi-Company
A daily cron schedules a reminder activity for the responsible user as a fiscal year’s close approaches, and every fiscal year, checklist, and provision is scoped per company.
