The problem
Warehouse teams constantly need to break one planned transfer into several: partial stock availability, multi-drop deliveries, staged purchase receipts, or handing a subset of lines to a different picker. Standard Odoo only offers automatic backorders, so operators end up manually editing quantities, validating partials, and chasing the results with no clear record of what came from where.

Split Picking adds one consistent wizard for every scenario: by line and quantity, by destination location, by scheduled date, or by kit. Every split shows a plain-language preview before you confirm, records full lineage in the chatter, and writes a permanent audit-log entry — so no picking is ever lost.

Manual line and quantity selection
Check-all or uncheck-all every move, adjust the quantity to split per line, see ordered, reserved, done, and remaining quantities at a glance, and suggest quantities in one click from a units-per-load capacity.
Split by destination location
Route incoming receipts to multiple destination bins in one operation, with a per-line destination and a warning when a destination looks wrong.
Split by scheduled date
Automatically group purchase receipt lines into one receipt per delivery date, consolidating same-date lines into a single cohort per receipt.
Kit and BOM-aware splitting
Split by number of kits and let the wizard derive component move quantities directly from the product's phantom bill of materials.
Predictable backorders, lineage & audit log
Choose to keep or cancel the original picking per split, control the remainder policy, and get full chatter lineage plus a permanent Split History audit-log entry for every split.
Bulk split from the list view
Select several transfers in the list and split each in half or by a units-per-load capacity in one pass, with a summary of anything skipped.
Plan split deliveries at confirmation
Set the quantity to deliver now versus later on a sales order before confirming, so the outgoing delivery is created already split.
How it works
Open the wizard
Click Split on any transfer, Split Selected from the list, or Plan Split Delivery on a sales order.
Choose lines and mode
Pick by line, location, date, or kit, then check the lines to split and set quantities or destinations.
Review the preview
See exactly how many pickings and backorders will result, plus any warnings, before you confirm.
Confirm and track
New pickings are created with full lineage, and the split is logged to the audit trail automatically.
