The problem
Native Odoo defers lot assignment to the receipt, so a purchase order line accepts only one product-quantity pairing with no way to earmark expected lots or split a line across several batches. Buyers in traceability-driven industries end up re-keying lot data at receiving and cannot see per-lot availability or cost while ordering, which turns large RFQs into slow, line-by-line manual work.
The solution
Purchase Order Multi Lots Selection brings lot selection into the purchase order itself. Pick or create lots per line, capture the vendor's own lot reference, and preview real-time availability, cost and expiration across every warehouse. Selected lots auto-propagate to the receipt on confirmation, and a bulk builder plus batch-assign wizard make large, multi-lot RFQs fast to build.

Multi-lot selection per line
Split one purchase order line across as many lots as needed, with a running total and a clear warning when selected quantity does not match the line quantity.
In-flow lot creation
Type a new lot name directly on the purchase order line and the lot is created automatically — no context switch into Inventory before purchasing can proceed.
Vendor lot reference capture
Record the vendor's own lot identifier alongside your internal lot so inbound traceability matches what actually shows up on the delivery.
Multi-warehouse availability
See on-hand quantity for each lot, broken down per warehouse, right on the purchase order line before you commit to the order.
Per-lot cost preview
Each lot line shows unit cost and subtotal, pulled from the lot's own valuation or the product's standard price, so cost variance is visible before confirmation.
Expiration & retirement lifecycle
Expired lots are flagged automatically, and any lot can be marked retired with a reason — with one-click retire and un-retire actions on the lot form.
Auto-propagation to receipts
On confirmation, the lots you selected flow straight onto the incoming stock move — no re-entry of lot numbers at receiving.
Bulk Add Products / RFQ builder
Add many products to one RFQ in a single screen, with on-hand quantity and cost shown per row, while vendor pricing and tax stay untouched.
One-action batch lot assignment
Assign the same lot, vendor reference and quantity across several purchase order lines at once, instead of repeating the entry line by line.
How it works
Enable lot tracking
If Lots/Serial Numbers is not yet on, an onboarding banner appears on the order with a direct link to turn it on.
Build the order
Add products one at a time, or use Bulk Add Products to build a multi-product RFQ from a single screen with cost and stock shown.
Select or create lots
Open the Lot Selection page on any line to pick existing lots or type a new one, or use Batch Assign Lots to apply one lot across several lines at once.
Confirm and receive
Confirming the order propagates your chosen lots straight onto the incoming receipt, ready for the warehouse team.
