The problem
Once a purchase order is confirmed, Odoo locks its confirmation date. Fixing a late-entered order, aligning it to the correct accounting period, or correcting a data-entry mistake means cancelling the order and recreating it — destroying receipt history and stock traceability on any order with partial deliveries.

Make the confirmation date editable after confirmation, under guardrails: permission-gated editing, a mandatory reason, manager approval for backdates, and a complete audit trail. Open receipt schedules shift with the new date while completed receipts stay untouched, so history is never lost.

Edit after confirmation
Change the confirmation date directly on a confirmed purchase order — no cancelling, no recreating, and no loss of receipt history or stock traceability.
Backdate and postdate with approval
Move a date earlier or later in either direction. Backdates beyond a configurable threshold route to a pending state until a manager approves or rejects them.
Full audit trail
Every change is logged with the original date, the new date, the reason, who made it, and who approved it — visible from a dedicated smart button on the order.
Bulk correction wizard
Select multiple confirmed orders in the list view and apply one new date to all of them at once, with the same reason, permission, and approval guardrails.
Receipt schedule propagation
Shift open receipt line dates by the same delta as the confirmation date change. Completed or cancelled receipts are never touched, so partial deliveries stay intact.
Force a date at confirmation
Set the intended confirmation date on a draft or RFQ before it is confirmed, so a supplier order agreed days earlier is recorded with the right date from the start.
Permission-gated editing
Two dedicated security groups control who can edit a confirmation date and who can approve a backdate, so a plain purchase user can never quietly rewrite it.
Confirmation date visibility and filters
A sortable confirmation date column in the purchase order list, plus quick filters for recently confirmed orders and orders awaiting date approval.

Set or edit the date
Force the intended date before confirming, or edit the confirmation date inline — or in bulk via the wizard — on any already-confirmed order.
Route backdates for approval
A backdate by a non-approver holds as pending; a manager reviews it and approves or rejects it directly from the order.
Review the trail
Every change — old date, new date, reason, user, approver — is recorded and visible from the order’s Date Changes smart button.
