The problem
High-SKU retailers — supermarkets, hardware stores, pharmacies — need a register that can ring up any item instantly, even offline. On very large catalogs the initial load is heavy, cache progress is invisible, and cashiers have no simple way to recover when data looks stale. The result is slow openings, frozen terminals and checkout queues.
The solution
This module turns the register's offline catalog cache into something a cashier can see and a manager can control: a clear Live/Offline status, a "Catalog ready: X%" progress bar with a background warmer, human-readable settings with tooltips, and one-tap "Refresh" or "Reset & rebuild" recovery actions.

Live / Offline status at a glance
A persistent navbar chip shows "• Live" or "• Offline — using saved catalog" so cashiers always know which mode they are transacting in.
Plain-language catalog readiness
A "Catalog ready: X%" progress bar in the navbar replaces guesswork with a clear number, plus a warming line while the background loader is still catching up.
Background catalog warming
After the register opens, a background warmer keeps loading the rest of the catalog in configurable batches until it is fully offline-ready — no manual reload needed.
Cache metrics dialog
A one-click popup shows server product count, how many are cached on the register, and coverage as a clear percentage bar — so managers can confirm readiness at a glance.
One-tap "Refresh prices & stock"
A single labelled button pulls the latest pricing, stock and attributes from the server without restarting the session, so cashiers never sell at stale prices.
One-tap "Reset & rebuild cache"
A confirmed recovery action clears and rebuilds the offline cache from scratch when data looks stale or wrong — no technical support call required.
Auto-cache scanned & searched products
When a cashier scans or searches an item not yet in the cache, it is automatically looked up and saved for next time — toggle it off from Settings if you prefer manual control.
Human-readable settings with tooltips
Five plain-language tiles — background warming on/off, initial load count, batch size, pause between batches, auto-cache toggle — each with a helpful tooltip, right in the standard POS Settings screen.
Per-register tuning, no code required
Every knob is a stored setting on the Point of Sale configuration, so each register can be tuned independently for its own catalog size and connection quality.

Tune the settings
In POS Settings, set the initial load count, batch size and pause between batches — or keep the sensible defaults.
Open the register
The session opens fast with the core initial batch, while the navbar shows Live/Offline status and catalog readiness.
Cache warms in the background
The remaining catalog loads in batches while the cashier keeps selling, with scanned or searched misses auto-cached along the way.
Refresh or recover anytime
Open the cache popup to check coverage, refresh prices & stock, or reset and rebuild the cache in one tap.
