Wholesale pricing that counts the whole category in your POS

Let a pricelist minimum quantity be reached by the total quantity of a product category across the whole order, instead of one order line at a time. Mixed colours and sizes finally add up to the bulk price your customer expects.

The problem

Odoo evaluates the Min. Quantity of a pricelist rule per order line, which means per product variant. A shop selling one carpet size in many colours never reaches its own "10 pieces" wholesale threshold: 4 red plus 3 blue plus 3 grey are three separate lines of 4, 3 and 3, and each line only ever sees its own quantity. The cashier is left overriding prices by hand, or the customer simply does not get the discount that was promised.

The solution

A single "Cumulative quantity in POS" checkbox on any category pricelist rule. Tick it, and the Point of Sale compares the rule’s minimum quantity against the sum of every order line in that category and its sub-categories, then applies the resulting price to all of them. Prices, badges and threshold hints update live as lines are added, merged, changed or removed.

Capabilities

Built for how shops actually sell

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Category-wide quantities

The minimum quantity of a cumulative rule is checked against the total quantity of its product category in the order, not against a single line. Every line in the group then gets the bulk price.

02

One checkbox per rule

Cumulative behaviour is opt-in on each price rule, so your existing pricelists keep working exactly as before. The checkbox only appears on rules applied to a product category, where it makes sense.

03

Sub-categories roll up

A rule set on a parent category counts every line whose product belongs to that category or any category beneath it, using the same category chain Odoo itself uses to match pricelist rules.

04

Live recalculation

Adding a line, merging it, editing a quantity, deleting a line or switching pricelist all reprice the group immediately. Drop back below the threshold and the whole group returns to the retail price.

05

Wholesale badge on the line

Every line priced by a cumulative rule carries a green WHOLESALE badge naming the category that earned it, so the cashier can always explain the price on the screen to the customer.

06

Upsell hints in the order

When a group is close to a threshold the order shows how many pieces are still missing, for example "1 more Bursa for the wholesale price" — a natural, honest upsell prompt at the till.

07

Threshold notifications

A single, clear notification is raised when a group crosses a threshold in either direction, so prices that change on lines the cashier did not touch are never a surprise.

08

Rule precedence control

Odoo stops at the first matching rule, so a product rule would normally shadow the category rule. A per-shop setting lets a reached cumulative rule win instead, or keeps the standard Odoo order.

09

Sensible exclusions

Refunds, negative quantities, combo products, loyalty reward lines, tips and down payments are excluded from the cumulated quantity, and a manually priced line is never repriced behind the cashier’s back.

Workflow

How it works

1

Enable it for the shop

In Point of Sale settings, turn on Cumulative Category Pricing and choose whether cumulative rules take precedence over product rules.

2

Flag the price rule

Add a rule on a product category, set its minimum quantity and wholesale price, then tick Cumulative quantity in POS.

3

Sell the mix

The cashier scans any mix of colours or sizes. The order shows how many pieces are still missing for the next wholesale tier.

4

Price applies to all

Once the threshold is reached every line in the group is repriced, badged as wholesale, and the receipt carries a wholesale note.

No. The module only changes pricing inside the Point of Sale. Quotations, sales orders and invoices keep the standard per-line Odoo behaviour, so nothing about your existing back office workflow changes.
