The right message, on the right register, at the right moment — with proof it was seen

POS Custom Messages puts color-coded, scheduled, targeted reminders in front of cashiers exactly when they matter — then logs every display so managers can prove it landed.

The problem

Cashiers are locked onto scanning and payment the moment an order opens, so shift handover notes, fridge-temperature checks, expiring-lot warnings, and closing procedures get taped to the register, announced once at shift start, or lost in a chat thread — and none of it is time-aware or terminal-aware. Existing custom-message apps either show a static banner store-wide until someone remembers to toggle it off, or add scheduling with no targeting, training every cashier to ignore alerts that were never meant for them.

The solution

Managers author color-coded messages once and route each one to the exact terminals, cashiers, or departments that need it, inside a scheduled start/stop window with optional weekly recurrence. When an order opens, the POS shows qualifying messages in priority order as a dismissible popup, and every display is written to an audit log — giving managers acknowledgment and effectiveness data no competitor tracks.

Capabilities

Everything a busy floor needs, nothing it does not

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Color-coded urgency levels

Every message is Information, Warning, or Error, with a matching color and icon in the list, kanban, and POS popup so cashiers triage severity at a glance instead of reading undifferentiated text.

02

Scheduled start/stop windows

Set a start and stop date on any message and it appears and expires automatically — no one has to remember to switch it off, so registers never show a stale notice.

03

Weekly recurrence

Mark a message recurring, pick the weekdays and a daily time window, and opening checks, closing procedures, and other repeating reminders re-appear on schedule without ever being recreated by hand.

04

Terminal, cashier & department targeting

Route a message to specific POS terminals, specific cashiers, or an entire department — leave a field empty to reach everyone — so registers only ever show what is relevant to them.

05

Priority-ordered popup queue

When several messages qualify at once, the POS popup steps through them in priority order (Low to Urgent) with an "X of N" counter, so critical alerts are never buried under routine ones.

06

Cashier acknowledgment tracking

Cashiers acknowledge or dismiss each popup, and every response is recorded against the message, terminal, and cashier — giving managers proof a compliance-critical reminder was actually seen.

07

Display log & effectiveness analytics

Every display writes an audit-trail row with view duration and acknowledgment state, rolled up into pivot and graph views so managers can see which messages land and which are ignored.

08

Reusable template library

Save frequently used reminders as templates and spin up a new message from one with a single button, instead of retyping the same closing checklist or safety notice every time.

09

Categories & a global on/off switch

Tag messages into color-coded categories to organize a growing library, and pause the entire messaging system for the whole company from one toggle in POS Settings whenever needed.

Workflow

How it works

1

Author the message

A manager writes a title and body, picks a type (Information, Warning, Error) and priority, and optionally starts from a saved template.

2

Schedule & target

Set a start/stop window, mark it recurring on chosen weekdays if needed, then pick the terminals, cashiers, or departments it should reach.

3

Cashier sees & acknowledges

When a session opens on a matching terminal, the POS shows qualifying messages in priority order as a color-coded popup the cashier acknowledges.

4

Manager reviews the log

The Display Log records every showing with view duration and acknowledgment state, and pivot/graph views summarize what got seen and what was ignored.

Questions

Frequently asked

No sales fog. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it the same way.

Yes. Each message has independent POS Terminal, Target Cashier, and Target Department fields; leaving any of them empty means "everyone" for that dimension, so you can be as broad or as narrow as needed.
