Partner Hierarchy replaces Odoo's flat contact tags with a true multi-level category tree — complete with branch rollup, drill-down navigation and bulk re-tagging — so operations and sales teams can finally segment contacts the way the business actually thinks about them.
The problem
Odoo's native partner tags are flat labels with no parent-child structure. As a contact database grows past a few hundred records, tag lists sprawl, get inconsistently named, and become impossible to browse. Teams cannot answer basic questions like "show me every partner under Manufacturing → Automotive → Tier-1 Suppliers" because tagging a child category never surfaces those partners in the parent view.
The solution
Partner Hierarchy turns contact categories into a real nested tree with a computed full path, direct and rolled-up partner counts on every node, and one-click drill-down into an entire branch. A duplicate-name guardrail and native cycle protection keep the structure clean as it scales, while a bulk re-categorize wizard lets you move many partners across branches in a single action.

Create categories under Contacts → Configuration → Partner Categories, nesting children under parents to match your industries, regions or account tiers.
Tag your partners
Assign one or more categories to each contact exactly like native Odoo tags — no new field to learn.
Drill into any branch
Open a category and click Branch Partners to see every contact filed under it and its descendants in one view.
Bulk re-tag as you go
From the Contacts list, select any group of partners and use the bulk wizard to add, replace or remove categories at once.
