The problem
Odoo's chatter is write-once. A typo, a wrong figure, or a misdirected mention can never be fixed, so teams post noisy "correction" messages that clutter the record and blur who said what. Accidental or sensitive posts stay visible forever because deletion is not available at all.
The solution
Layer safe editing and deletion on top of Odoo's native chatter: an unlimited edit window, an immutable version history for every change, soft-delete with one-click restore, and granular own-vs-any permissions — all visible from a dedicated backend audit cockpit.

Unlimited Edit Window
Correct a message or log note at any time after posting — no 15-minute cutoff, no lockout. Most typos are found long after sending, so the fix has to work then too.
Immutable Edit History
Every content change snapshots the previous subject, body, and attachments into a dedicated history record, so nothing is ever silently overwritten.
Edited & Deleted Metadata
Each message tracks its own edit count, last editor, and last edit date, so anyone reading the record can see at a glance what changed and when.
Soft-Delete with Restore
Deleting a message flags it and snapshots its content instead of erasing it outright. A manager can restore it in one click if it was removed by mistake.
Own vs. Any Permissions
Two governance tiers let you grant staff the right to edit their own messages only, or extend full edit-and-delete rights to trusted managers.
Follower Notification on Edit
Followers of a record get an inbox notification whenever a message they rely on is edited, so nobody keeps acting on outdated information. Toggle it globally from Settings.
Works on Every Document
The audit layer attaches to Odoo's shared messaging thread, so it works identically on sales orders, invoices, projects, tickets, and contacts — every document that has a chatter.
Message Audit Cockpit
A dedicated backend menu lists every edited message, every deleted message with a Restore action, and the full edit-history log, filterable and grouped by document or user.
Rich Content Preserved
Edits keep the original formatted HTML body and attachments intact, so corrections never degrade a message to plain text.

Review from the Cockpit
Open the Message Audit menu to see every edited and deleted message across the company, grouped and filtered by document or user.
Restore if Needed
If a message was deleted in error, a manager restores it in one click and the recovery itself is logged.
