The problem
Once a manufacturing order leaves draft, native Odoo offers no way back. Fixing a wrong BOM, a mis-selected product, or an order confirmed too soon means cancelling the whole order and recreating it from scratch — losing its history, planning, and links to other documents in the process.
The solution
Manufacturing Reset to Draft adds a governed, always-visible reset control that reverts orders safely: stock moves and work orders are unreserved and reset, done quantities are reversed with matching stock moves, and every action is previewed, logged, and restricted to the roles you choose.

Revert a confirmed, in-progress, to-close, done, or cancelled manufacturing order back to draft in a single click, without recreating the order.
Always-Visible Control
The reset button stays visible in the manufacturing order header across every state it applies to, so it is never hidden exactly when you need it.
Inventory-Safe Revert
Stock moves and reservations are unreserved and reset on the way back to draft, and validated quantities get reversing moves so stock levels net back to their pre-order state.
Work Order Status Revert
Linked work orders revert alongside the manufacturing order, so the whole order returns to a coherent draft state instead of being left stranded mid-progress.
Pre-Reset Impact Wizard
A confirmation dialog previews what the reset will affect before you commit, and requires a reason, so a high-stakes action never happens by accident.

Swap the Bill of Materials version as part of the reset flow, addressing the most common reason teams need to reset an order in the first place.
Full Audit Trail
Every reset is recorded with who performed it, when, and why, visible directly on the order's Reset History tab for traceability and review.

A dedicated Reset Log, reachable from Manufacturing > Reporting, lists every reset across every order for oversight and reporting.

How it works
Open the order
From any confirmed, in-progress, or cancelled manufacturing order, click the always-visible Reset to Draft button in the header.
Review the impact
The pre-reset wizard shows what will be affected, lets you optionally change the Bill of Materials, and asks for a reason for the reset.
Confirm the reset
Stock moves, reservations, and work orders are reverted, and any validated quantities are reversed with matching stock moves so inventory and costs stay accurate.
Review the audit trail
The reset is logged instantly on the order's Reset History tab and in the central Reset Log for later review.
