The problem
Standard Odoo Manufacturing rolls material, labor and overhead into a single blended cost at the product level. When two lots of the same finished good are made from raw materials bought at different prices, or with different labor and overhead, standard Odoo cannot tell you what each specific lot actually cost — which breaks margin analysis and makes recall or audit costing guesswork.

Per-lot cost breakdown
Every produced lot records its own material, labor, overhead and total cost, plus a costed quantity and derived unit cost — right on the lot form.
Configurable overhead basis
Set an overhead rate and allocation basis — labor hours, machine hours or units produced — per work center, so accountants can see and validate exactly how overhead is spread.
Standard-vs-actual variance
Each lot shows its unit and total variance against standard cost, with list-view color decorations so exceptions are visible at a glance instead of buried in a report.
Material / labor / overhead mix
A computed cost mix percentage per lot shows the share of material, labor and overhead at a glance, so controllers can spot cost-structure shifts between batches.
Lot Costing report — list & pivot
A dedicated reporting menu lists every costed lot with variance decorations and column sums, plus a pivot view to slice material, labor, overhead and variance by product.
Guided cost-adjustment wizard
A manager-gated "Adjust Cost" wizard on the lot lets you correct a cost after the fact, with every adjustment logged to the lot's chatter for a defensible audit trail.
Live overhead preview on the MO
The manufacturing order shows a live estimated overhead figure as work progresses, and a "Lot Costs" stat button jumps straight to every lot the order produced.
Capitalize overhead into valuation
An optional Manufacturing Settings toggle capitalizes allocated overhead into the finished-goods valuation through the standard Odoo extra-cost hook, so your ledger stays in sync.
Built on native MRP costing
Layers directly on Odoo's own manufacturing cost engine (mrp_account) — no parallel costing system, no duplicate journal entries, no separate database to reconcile.
How it works
Configure overhead
Set an overhead rate and basis (labor hours, machine hours or units) on each work center, and optionally enable capitalizing overhead into finished-goods valuation.
Run the MO
Confirm and complete the manufacturing order as usual. A live estimated overhead figure updates on the order as work centers log time.
Review the lot cost
At completion, each produced lot carries its own material, labor, overhead and total cost, unit cost, mix percentages and variance against standard.
Adjust if needed
If a cost needs correcting after the fact, managers use the guided Adjust Cost wizard, which logs the change to the lot's chatter.
