Undo bulk mistakes, safely and with a full audit trail.

Reset or cancel hundreds of posted journal entries in one action — with filtered targeting, a before/after preview, a hard confirmation gate, a persistent audit log, and one-click undo.

The problem

Odoo intentionally makes posted journal entries hard to reverse. When a batch import, a wrong journal, or a premature month-end posting slips through, accounting teams end up correcting dozens or hundreds of entries one by one, with no visibility into what changed, no way to undo the cleanup, and no record of who did it.

The solution

Journal Reset lets you filter, preview, and confirm the exact set of entries before anything changes, then reset or cancel them in a single action. Every batch is logged with a full audit trail and can be rolled back as a group, so bulk corrections are fast without sacrificing control.

Capabilities

Everything a bulk correction needs

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

Bulk Reset to Draft

Reset any number of posted journal entries back to draft in a single action, instead of opening each record individually.

02

Bulk Cancel

Cancel a whole batch of journal entries at once, covering the core mechanic accountants already expect from this category.

03

Filtered Target Selection

Narrow candidates by date range, amount, account, and journal so you isolate the exact erroneous batch instead of hand-picking records.

04

Before/After Preview

Review the precise list of entries that will be affected, with per-journal counts, date span, and total amount, before committing to anything.

05

Confirmation Gate With Counts

A hard confirmation step shows exactly how many entries, across which journals and periods, are about to change — no accidental large-scale resets.

06

Progress Tracking

Large batches show live progress as they run, so you always know the operation is advancing rather than wondering if it has stalled.

07

One-Click Undo / Rollback

Revert a completed batch reset or cancel as a group from its audit record, restoring every affected entry to its prior state.

08

Persistent Audit Log

Every batch is recorded with who ran it, when, the operation, and a per-entry outcome — success, skipped, or reverted — with chatter tracking on the record.

09

Scheduled Reset Rules

Define criteria-based rules (journal, account, amount, minimum age, and a hard entry cap) that run automatically on a cron schedule, each producing its own audited, undoable batch.

Workflow

How it works

1

Select entries

Open the wizard from the Journal Entries list, or start from Accounting > Journal Reset.

2

Refine and preview

Filter by date, amount, journal, or account, then review the exact target set and totals before committing.

3

Confirm and execute

Confirm the hard gate and run the reset or cancel; locked entries are skipped and recorded, never silently bypassed.

4

Audit or undo

Review the resulting batch record with full details, or roll it back in one click if something needs to be reverted.

Questions

Frequently asked

No sales fog. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it the same way.

No. Entries protected by a hash, lock date, cash-basis handling, or a pending cancel request are never force-reset. They are recorded as skipped with the reason, and the rest of the batch still completes.
