Know exactly what every invoice really earns
Export invoice-level and line-level cost and gross margin to a clean, aggregation-ready Excel workbook — multi-warehouse costs included, and every column actually sums.
The problem
Odoo tracks sales prices and product cost internally, but turning that into a clean per-invoice gross margin report is a manual, error-prone spreadsheet exercise — and it only gets worse across multiple warehouses, where cost exports that claim to aggregate often break the moment you try to SUM them.
The solution
A guided export wizard builds a formula-safe Excel workbook with invoice, line-item, and warehouse-level cost and margin — every numeric column is a real number, every warehouse breakdown sums back to the invoice total, and low-margin invoices are flagged automatically, in the app and in the file.
Everything a finance team needs, nothing it does not
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Aggregation-ready Excel export
Every cost, revenue, and margin column is written as a real number with live SUM() totals — no shifted cells, no text-formatted numbers, no broken pivots.
Automatic per-invoice gross margin
Revenue, cost, margin amount, and margin percent are computed for every customer invoice the moment it is opened — no formulas to build by hand.
Multi-warehouse cost that sums correctly
Cost is split across the warehouses that actually shipped the goods, in a flat pivot-ready table where every warehouse row adds back up to the line total.
Line-item cost drill-down
See exactly which product line is driving or eroding margin, directly on the invoice and in a dedicated Line Detail export sheet.
Currency-aware margin
Invoices in any currency are converted to your company currency at the invoice date rate, so totals across a multi-currency customer base stay correct.
Low-margin threshold alerts
Set one alert threshold in Settings and invoices falling below it are flagged with a red badge on the invoice, in the invoice list, and in the Excel export.
Guided export wizard
Pick a date range, customers, and invoice type, and see a live count of matching invoices before you export — no blank configuration screens.
Built-in plain-language glossary
A Help & Glossary tab in the wizard explains COGS, gross margin, and cost method in plain language — built for operators, not accountants.
Customizable report output
Set your own report title and toggle the Line Detail and Warehouse Costs sheets on or off so the workbook matches how your team already reports.
How it works
Set your threshold
In Accounting Settings, set the margin percentage below which an invoice should be flagged as low-margin (defaults to 20%).
Review margin in-app
Open any customer invoice to see revenue, cost, and margin at both the invoice and line level, with low-margin invoices highlighted in the list.
Open the export wizard
From Accounting > Reporting > Cost & Margin Excel, choose a date range, customers, and invoice type, and confirm the live invoice count.
Generate and download
Click Generate Excel and download an aggregation-ready workbook with Summary, Invoices, Line Detail, and Warehouse Costs sheets.
Frequently asked
No sales fog. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it the same way.
The report reads the same cost your invoice already carries — the sale order's captured cost when the line comes from a sales order, or the product's current cost otherwise. It reflects whatever standard, average, or FIFO valuation method your company already has configured, so the numbers reconcile with Odoo's own inventory valuation.
