The problem
Odoo raises a stock-shortage warning on every sale order line whose quantity exceeds forecasted availability. For backorder, pre-order and drop-ship businesses that sell short of stock by design, the same popup fires dozens of times a day — interrupting order entry without adding any decision value for a rep who already knows the fulfillment plan.
The solution
Disable Sale Stock Warning suppresses the popup selectively — by product, warehouse, customer or sales team — while a rule can also protect a critical SKU and keep its warning active. A global switch, a live bypass audit log, and an always-visible availability column keep the control reversible and accountable.

Selective Suppression Rules
Scope each rule by product, warehouse, customer and sales team. Leave a scope empty to match everything, or narrow it to exactly the orders where the warning is noise.
Protect Critical SKUs
Set a rule to keep the warning instead of suppressing it, so a low-margin or safety-critical product still stops reps even while everything else sells through.
Global Master Switch
One setting in Sales Configuration toggles between Standard Odoo, Suppress by rules, or Suppress all — so the simplest all-or-nothing option is always one click away.
Bypass Audit Log
Every line allowed through despite a shortfall is recorded at order confirmation, with requested vs. available quantity, the rule applied and who confirmed it.
Availability Stays Visible
Removing the alarm never removes the number. The Available quantity is always shown on the order line, with a neutral icon on suppressed lines instead of the red alert.
Ordered Rule Priority
Rules evaluate in sequence with a drag handle to reorder them, so the first matching rule for a line always wins — predictable behavior even with overlapping scopes.
Bypasses Smart Button
Open any rule's form to see, in one click, exactly how many order lines it has suppressed and jump straight to the underlying audit records.
Standard Forecast, Untouched
Availability numbers come straight from Odoo's own reservation and forecast engine, so nothing about stock planning or delivery routing changes — only the alarm is suppressed.
How it works
Pick a mode
In Sales Settings, choose Standard Odoo, Suppress by rules, or Suppress all.
Define rules
Create rules scoped by product, warehouse, customer or team, and mark each to suppress or protect.
Sell as usual
Reps enter order lines with the availability column visible and no interrupting popup where it doesn't matter.
Review the log
On confirmation, every bypassed line is written to the audit log for managers to review.
