Journal entries that reverse themselves on time
Schedule the reversal of an accrual, provision, or cut-off entry the moment you book it, then let Odoo create and post the mirror entry automatically — on any date you choose, not just the 1st of next month.
The problem
Accruals, provisions, and cut-off entries must be undone at the start of the next period, but Odoo's native "Reverse Entry" only fires when an accountant remembers to click it, one entry at a time. During a busy close, with dozens of temporary entries in flight, a missed or mistimed reversal distorts the numbers and becomes an audit exception.
The solution
Capture the reversal intent right on the journal entry: a toggle, any reversal date you choose, and an optional reversal journal. A configurable scheduled action posts every due reversal automatically, an accountant can trigger "Reverse Now" on demand, and a dedicated control view shows exactly what is scheduled, reversed, or failed — with no administrator required.

Schedule at booking time
A "Schedule Auto-Reversal" toggle, reversal date, and optional reversal journal live right on the journal entry's Other Info tab — set the intent the moment you book the entry.
Any date, not just the 1st
Pick any reversal date to fit mid-period accruals and multi-month timelines, or let the entry default to the 1st of next month for the common month-end case.
Automated, hands-off posting
A scheduled action creates and posts every due reversal on its target date, with each entry isolated in its own savepoint so one failure never blocks the rest of the batch.
"Reverse Now" on demand
A header button on the entry, plus a batch action from the list view, lets an accountant run a scheduled reversal immediately instead of waiting for the next cron cycle.
Configurable schedule
Set how often the auto-reversal scheduler runs — hours, days, weeks, or months — directly from Accounting Settings, with no admin ticket required.
Batch scheduling wizard
Select many entries in the Journal Entries list and assign a reversal date and journal to all of them at once — built for the volume of a real month-end close.
A dedicated control view
The Auto-Reversals list filters and groups by status — Scheduled, Auto-Reversed, or Failed — so nothing scheduled for the close slips through unnoticed.
Duplicate-safe, traceable
An entry is never reversed twice, even if the scheduler runs more than once. Source and reversal entries link to each other, and generated entries carry an "Auto Created Reversal" marker.
Visible failures, pre-post warnings
A failed reversal shows a clear failure flag with a human-readable reason, and the entry warns you before saving if the reversal date lands before the entry date or in a locked period.
How it works
Book the entry
Post a miscellaneous journal entry as usual, then toggle "Schedule Auto-Reversal" on the Other Info tab.
Set the date
Pick the reversal date and, if needed, a different reversal journal — or accept the 1st of next month default.
Let it run, or trigger it
The scheduled action posts the reversal automatically on its target date, or click "Reverse Now" to post it immediately.
Review in one place
Check the Auto-Reversals list to see every entry's status — Scheduled, Reversed, or Failed with its reason.
