Order your shop your way in every category
Website Product Sequence & Grouping gives merchandisers reliable, per-category control over storefront product order — drag-and-drop sequencing, merchandising groups and attribute-value ordering that actually shows up on the live shop.
The problem
Odoo's native product order is a single global number that applies everywhere at once, and a well-documented platform bug often means even that has no visible effect on the storefront. Merchandisers cannot feature hero products in one category while burying them in another, cannot group related items into a visual block, and cannot order by attribute — leaving the shop to reflect data entry, not merchandising intent.
The solution
This module adds a dedicated per-category position for every product, applied reliably by overriding the shop's product lookup before pagination so the configured order is always what shoppers see. Merchandisers reorder with a drag-handle grid, cluster products into merchandising groups, add a secondary attribute-value sort, and preview the exact storefront order before publishing.
Everything you need to merchandise your shop
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Per-category product ordering
Store an independent display position for the same product in every eCommerce category it belongs to, with a drag-handle bulk grid grouped by category for fast rearranging.
Merchandising groups
Cluster products into named blocks such as "Hero Products" or "Clearance" that lead or trail the listing, with a group sequence controlling which block shows first.
Reliable storefront ordering
The configured order is applied to the full product set before pagination, so it holds true across every page of a category — fixing the display-order gap in native Odoo.
Enable per category, with inheritance
Turn custom ordering on for the categories that need it and let child categories inherit a parent's order automatically, so subcategories stay consistent without duplicate setup.
Attribute-value ordering
Add a secondary sort by a chosen attribute's value sequence — for example red before blue — so attribute-rich catalogs order the way a merchandiser expects.
Auto-placement for new products
New products added to a category are automatically appended at the end of that category's order, so the catalog stays organized as it grows instead of falling back to an unordered default.
Ribbon annotation
Attach a ribbon marker to a product's position within a category as it's reordered, keeping the merchandising order and its visual promotion in one place.
Backend order preview
Preview the exact sequence shoppers will see for any category before publishing changes, so merchandisers arrange with confidence rather than checking the live site.
Product-level ordering view
See and edit a single product's position across every category it belongs to directly from the product form, without hunting through separate category records.
How it works
Enable ordering on a category
Open a category's Product Ordering tab and switch on custom ordering, choosing whether it inherits from a parent category.
Arrange products with the drag grid
Drag products into position in the category's bulk grid, or set a merchandising group and attribute sort for finer control.
Preview before publishing
Open the storefront order preview to confirm the exact sequence shoppers will see for that category.
Ship it live
Publish the products — the shop page applies your configured order automatically, page after page.

Yes. The module overrides the shop's product lookup so the configured order is applied to the full result set before pagination, guaranteeing the order you set is the order shoppers see on every page.
