The problem
Getting a face on a record means leaving Odoo, finding or shooting a photo, saving it to disk, then uploading it through the image widget. For teams onboarding staff or registering walk-in customers in volume, that file-shuffle slows down every single entry — and images just get skipped.
The solution
One click on the form opens a live webcam dialog. Snap a still, get a quality warning if it is dark or blurry, crop it to a square, and confirm or retake — the photo lands on the record without ever touching a file manager.

Live webcam preview
A single capture button on the form opens a live camera feed so you can frame the shot before you snap it.
Confirm or retake
Review the captured still before it saves anywhere. Accept it or retake the shot in the same session — no closing and reopening the dialog.
Square crop and framing
Centre the subject and trim the frame to fit the standard square avatar before you save.
Brightness and blur warnings
A visible quality warning flags dark or blurry frames so bad photos never get saved unnoticed.
Upload-instead fallback
No camera, blocked permission, or unsupported browser? The same dialog offers a standard file upload so the record still gets its photo.
Clear error states
Permission denied, no device found, or an unsupported browser each show a specific message with a next step — never a blank, broken window.
Works across Contacts, Users, Employees and Products
The same capture button and dialog appear on every common image-bearing record, so one app covers HR, sales, and catalogue needs.
Sequential batch capture
Select a list of records and step through them one photo at a time — capture, skip, or finish — without returning to the list in between.
Capture history and settings
Every capture is logged with its source and quality score, and admins can toggle capture per entity, set crop and quality thresholds, and enable batch mode from Settings.
