The problem
Odoo's native list views ship with a single global search box tied to the control panel. Narrowing a long list of sales orders, invoices, or contacts by one column value means editing search views or writing domain filters — work most business users cannot do on their own, so they scroll, export to a spreadsheet, or wait on a developer.
The solution
Advanced Search for Tree/List View adds an opt-in search toolbar directly above any list: a real-time quick-search box and a per-column search strip, both layered non-destructively on top of your existing filters. Users see a live result count as they type, save the searches they run often as one-click presets, and administrators control exactly which fields and groups can search on each model.

Real-time quick search
A debounced search box above the list filters records as you type — press Enter to re-apply immediately or Escape to clear, with no page reload.
Per-column search strip
A dedicated input under each searchable column header lets users narrow by a specific field instead of guessing which column a global search box will match.
Live result count and search state
A result count and active-search indicator show exactly how many records match, with a clear "no results" state so users always know whether the search worked.
Non-destructive domain layering
Quick search and column filters are combined on top of the view's existing domain and any persistent filters, so nothing the user already applied is ever lost.
Saved search presets
Users save a quick search plus column values as a named preset for one-click reuse, and can mark any preset as shared so the whole team benefits.
Per-model search configuration
Administrators choose which fields are searchable, and toggle quick search, column search, and presets independently for each model from a dedicated settings screen.
Group-based visibility
Restrict the advanced search toolbar to specific user groups per model, so the feature only appears for the teams that need it.
