The problem

Gift Registry gives every registrant a shareable, privacy-controlled page listing exactly what they want from your store. A reservation guard enforces how much of each item is still needed, so a purchase is accepted only while stock is truly available — guests always see live availability, and the celebrant always sees real progress.

Every purchase is checked against the quantity still needed for that item before it is accepted. Once an item's wanted quantity is fully reserved, it is marked Purchased and removed from the purchasable set for every other guest, so two people can never buy the same gift.
