The problem
Teams announce freeze periods with spreadsheets, shared calendars and email blasts — "do not touch orders between the 28th and the 2nd." These channels are advisory only. Nothing stops a user from editing a frozen sales order, stock transfer or journal entry, and there is no record of who ignored the freeze. The violation surfaces later, during reconciliation or audit, after the damage is already done.
The solution
Change Freeze Windows turns the freeze into an enforced, auditable Odoo record. Pick the scope — Sales, Stock, Accounting, or any combination — set the start and end, and activate: edits to covered documents are blocked outright. Anyone who genuinely needs to act during the freeze requests an emergency override that a manager approves, and every attempt, block and approval is written to the record's chatter.

Multi-document freeze scope

Every state change, blocked attempt, override request and approval is tracked on the record's chatter — including manager edits made during a freeze, which are allowed but still logged.
How it works
Create a window
Manually set the scope, start and end — or pick a template like Month-End Close and adjust the dates.
Activate it
Click Activate, or let the cron auto-activate the window the moment its start date arrives.
Edits get blocked
Anyone outside the Manager group who tries to edit or delete a covered Sales Order, Stock Transfer or Accounting Entry is stopped with a clear message.
Override, or let it end
A manager approves a documented emergency override when it is truly needed; otherwise the window ends on schedule and the chatter holds the full record.
