The problem
Admins resort to resetting a user's password, asking them to screen-share, or manually rebuilding their permissions on a spare account just to see what they see. None of it is fast, safe, or leaves a record of what happened.
The solution
One click switches you into any user's session — no password needed. A persistent banner keeps the identity switch visible the whole time, a dedicated button returns you to your own account, and every session is logged automatically.

Passwordless One-Click Switch
Log in as any internal or portal user directly from their user record — no password reset, no screen-share, no waiting on the user to be available.
Group-Based Permission Gating
Only users in the dedicated "Can Log In As Another User" group ever see or can use the feature; it is granted automatically to full Settings administrators and can be extended to support staff.
Privilege-Escalation Guard
A user who is not a Settings administrator can never impersonate one — the switch is blocked on the server, every time, regardless of what the interface shows.
Confirmation Before Switching
A lightweight dialog names the exact user you are about to become before the switch happens, guarding against misclicks on long user lists.
Persistent Impersonation Banner
An unmissable banner stays visible in the top bar for the entire session, naming the user you are logged in as so no action is ever taken as the wrong person by accident.
One-Click Return
A dedicated "Return to [your name]" link in the banner ends the impersonated session instantly — no logging out and back in required.
Default-On Audit Trail
Every impersonation is logged automatically — who switched to whom, when it started, and when it ended — with no separate purchase or setup step to turn accountability on.
Optional Reason Capture
Add a short reason at the moment of switching — a ticket number, for example — to strengthen the audit trail with intent, without making it mandatory.
Per-User Impersonation History
Open any user's record to see, at a glance, every time someone has logged in as them, straight from a stat button on their profile.
How it works
Open A User's Record
Find the user you need to assist from Settings > Users & Companies > Users.
Confirm The Switch
Click "Log In As This User", optionally note a reason, and confirm.
Work As The User
See Odoo exactly as they do, with a persistent banner reminding you whose session you're in.
Return In One Click
Click "Return to [your name]" in the banner to end the session; it's logged automatically.
