The same contact, company, or opportunity ends up in Odoo two or three times. Reps call the wrong number, pipeline reports overstate coverage, and two people work the same account — and the mess only grows with every import and web-form submission.

Admin-defined matching rules flag likely duplicates the moment a record is opened, naming the exact fields that matched. Warn or block on save, whitelist legitimate near-matches, and merge confirmed duplicates through a guided wizard.

Real-Time Detection
Likely duplicates are computed live when a contact or lead form is opened, so a warning banner appears before anyone acts on bad data.

Duplicate control covers both res.partner contacts and companies and CRM leads and opportunities, so one tool watches the whole CRM.
Field-Level Warnings
The banner names exactly which field(s) triggered the match — "based on: Email, Phone" — so users can judge a true duplicate in seconds.
Detect, Warn or Block
Set each rule to detect-only, warn, or block. Block mode stops a known duplicate from being saved — prevention, not just after-the-fact cleanup.
Guided Merge Wizard
Open the merge wizard from the warning, pick the master record to keep, and the rest are re-linked to it and archived — always under human confirmation.
Whitelist Exceptions
Mark a legitimate near-match — a parent company and its branch — as not a duplicate, and the pair stops being re-flagged for good.
Multi-Company Correct
Results are scoped to the companies each user is allowed to see, eliminating the false positives that plague duplicate tools in multi-company setups.
Text Normalization
An optional per-rule normalize step ignores case and whitespace differences, so "John@X.com" and "john@x.com " still match as the same value.
